Ex-Convento Madonna dei Colli & the Via del Volto Santo

A series of self-guided walks in the footsteps of angellightphoto

An ideal short walk for a summer’s evening or any time out of season. I would describe it as an easy walk but should point out that the first section, which is on a surfaced road, is relentlessly steep. However, the views of the Apuan Alps when you reach the top are well worth the effort.

Walk Highlights

The entire walk is on good roads and paths with the first section being along a very quiet public road that winds its way through attractive olive groves. Look out for the spectacular shows of wild orchids In spring and early summer. An old mule track descends from the road and follows a valley through further olive groves and forest to reach the village of Piano di Collecchia. From there, part of the Via del Volto Santo winds back through the forest to the start point. Look out for wildlife throughout the walk.
